Hednesford lost this game by a single goal, despite all of their hard work they came away from Stafford without any reward. Louise Maunders played a deeper role and had a terrific game defending well. Sam Fawon and Katie Smith were kept busy throughout the first half as Stafford pressed forward.  Hednesford best chance of the half fell to Emily Walker who ran into the box but fell to the ground just before she was about to shoot on goal, despite what looked like a penalty the referee saw nothing wrong with the challenge made by the Stafford defender.  Tiffany Whelan was called into action on a number of occasions in the first half displaying bravery to foil Stafford and keep her team in the game.

Paige Smith Kirkham gave Stafford a torrid time in the second half, tackling hard and hardly ever coming out of a challenge without the ball. Stafford scored an excellent goal to take the lead in the 25th minute.  The shot was well hit, very hard and high into the net, Tiffany Whelan did well to get fingertips to the ball but couldn’t prevent the goal.  Lana Titley looked like she would draw Hednesford level when she was running in on goal but a defender got to a foot to the ball.
