Hednesford were crowned Division One champions of the Walsall league with two convincing wins on the last day of the season to take the championship by five points and make it a league and cup double.

Needing only a point to wrap up the league the young Pitmen made no mistake by beating bush predators 4 - 1 and Shire Oak Gunners 4 - 0.

Hednesford Town U10’s - 5

Ashmore Park – 0

Hednesford Town won the Jimmy Mullen Memorial Trophy with a convincing win against old foes Ashmore Park at the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Molineux. The Junior Pitmen became the first Hednesford team to win the trophy at U10's level in the cups 22 year history

Town were on fire and after five minutes Jack Weldon crashed the ball into the bottom corner to give Town the lead.

Early in the second half Town increased the lead when Weldon thundered the ball into the top corner and a minute later town made it three when Mitch Candlin turned the ball home at the near post. Town were now dominating and Candlin made it four when he finished a good move to slide the ball past the keeper. Cody Lyons made his dreams come true when he finished the scoring on his beloved Wolves ground firing home the fifth at the death.

Congratulations to the squad (seen lifting the tophy at Molinuex) of Jamie Weldon, Cody Lyons, Tom Mackenzie, James Simcock, Josh Parker, Mitch Candlin and Jack Weldon - who made it four out of four for the season.

It was another success story for Hednesford Town U10's during the Easter holiday week. The Junior Pitmen travelled to Great Yarmouth to test their skills in a week away with RT & Tours and came back victorious yet again.

Despite fierce competition and playing teams from all around the country the lads proved how talented they are by winning seven out of the eight games to be crowned Champions!

To go all that way and play three games of football a day and not to concede a goal is a great achievement and the Town were awarded their trophies by Ex Liverpool and England Legend Phil Thompson.

Hednesford lost this game by a single goal, despite all of their hard work they came away from Stafford without any reward. Louise Maunders played a deeper role and had a terrific game defending well. Sam Fawon and Katie Smith were kept busy throughout the first half as Stafford pressed forward.  Hednesford best chance of the half fell to Emily Walker who ran into the box but fell to the ground just before she was about to shoot on goal, despite what looked like a penalty the referee saw nothing wrong with the challenge made by the Stafford defender.  Tiffany Whelan was called into action on a number of occasions in the first half displaying bravery to foil Stafford and keep her team in the game.

Paige Smith Kirkham gave Stafford a torrid time in the second half, tackling hard and hardly ever coming out of a challenge without the ball. Stafford scored an excellent goal to take the lead in the 25th minute.  The shot was well hit, very hard and high into the net, Tiffany Whelan did well to get fingertips to the ball but couldn’t prevent the goal.  Lana Titley looked like she would draw Hednesford level when she was running in on goal but a defender got to a foot to the ball.

Walsall Junior Youth League - Cup Final

Hednesford Town retained the league cup for a second year running and were worthy winners in a repeat of last years Final. Jack Weldon opened the scoring by firing into the net from just outside the area after just five minutes.

Mitch Candlin made it two early in the second half with a low drive into the corner of the net. Hednesford wrapped it up and bought home the trophy to Keys Park when Weldon rounded the keeper and Tan Katsunkya tapped home the third.

Hednesford Harriers Under 10s started the new season slowly with some good football played in flashes. The whole team battled hard and looked strong going forward with Ty Price and Jamie Elkes linking up well. Defending was difficult against the slope. Price opened the scoring from inside the box, but Wyrley equalised with a couple of minutes to go to see the game finish 1-1. Man of the match went to Kyle Saunders.

The first half saw Town play well and create chances, with Jamie Elkes and man of the match Ty price looking threatening going forward while Jayden Peters and Ryan Craddock were solid at the back.

Hednesford dominated the second half with some well taken goals and interplay. With the whole of Harriers joining the attack they won the game comfortably. The whole team deserved to be Man of the Match for this excellent victory.

This match was a tough game for Hednesford who ran out the 1-0 winners. Reece Darby, Jamie Campbell and man of the match Max Dyer had particularly good games. Dyer who terrorised the Shire Oak defence all game broke down the right and rifled home the winner.
